Completing Bucket List Item #109, A 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle

I believe the bucket list journey gives every person in the world the tools and inspiration to live their bucket list one checkmark at a time. This ‘Completing bucket list item #109’ blog is going to outline how to get started with solving a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle. Whether this is the first time you’re considering it or have thought about solving it, you must read this blog till the end. So, let’s get started!

A 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle was something I had on my bucket list, and I can tell you that it wasn't easy to complete. However, it was moments of fun in a brain-stimulating way. In fact, research actually shows that jigsaw puzzles may have a positive effect on our memory! We should definitely do more of them, right!?

  • So, is a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle the kind of adult fun you’ve already tried out?
  • Have you ever considered solving a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle?
  • If not yet, I highly encourage you to do so!

When you think of a jigsaw puzzle, you probably associate it with childhood and children. Hopefully, you also realize that it's a totally adult activity to do and it's a pretty fun one as well!

It is a good way to relax and forget about the stresses of the day. It is a great way to unwind and put down your cell phone for a few hours at a time.

I’ve done a lot of puzzle-solving as a kid but I haven’t done any as an adult and I’ve never made a video of myself doing it. So, I thought it’d be kind of fun to do something that I haven’t done probably in like 15-20 years or so.

In fact, the other part of the bucket list is that I’m going to try to do this in one sitting. So, I set up a time-lapse camera and recorded the whole process. I know a thousand-piece jigsaw puzzle may not seem like that big of a deal, it really isn’t. It was an awesome feeling for me to complete it. Trust me, as I have first-hand experience with this!

You Might Be Wondering How Long Does it Take to Complete a 1,000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle?

Do you have any guesses on how much time you should reserve to complete a 1000-piece puzzle like this?

I naively thought that it could be completed in a couple of hours.
But guess what? I was wrong.

In my case, solving it actually ended up taking more than 10 hours. Depending on the type of puzzle, among other factors, it takes anywhere between 5 and 10 hours on average. However, on average it took me around 10-12 hours to finally complete a 1000-piece jigsaw puzzle.

Here are some tips on How to Complete a 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle:

  • Ensure all of the pieces are turned print size up before you do anything else. It will considerably reduce the amount of time it takes to find and put together the pieces.
  • The puzzle pieces can be sorted into groups based on color or design to make them easier to solve.
  • Put together the edge pieces first.
  • The large shape and color sections should be completed next as they are often easier to start with than the smaller details.
  • Take breaks from time to time to refresh your mind.

While I have already completed one jigsaw puzzle, this won't be the last. Every year, it's the perfect thing to check off the winter bucket list.
