It's no secret that I enjoy doing collage puzzles, and these 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzles are just the right size. So, I’m up again with another of the puzzles. The one I chose to do this time is “Amesti” from my series on my photography. In this blog “1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzle 3 of 10 | Amesti” I have outlined the methods and benefits of doing these 1000 Piece Jigsaw Puzzles. So, keep reading till the end!
Amesti puzzle took me quite a bit longer than I anticipated due to the same reason as all the rest, due to so much white space. Nevertheless, I managed to finish it.
My favorite thing about collages is that they are easy to sort, which is why I like them so much. And how to forget that it’s always satisfying to make or complete one. Isn’t it!?
I do jigsaw puzzles at my home itself. Nevertheless, I don't want the puzzle to languish there unattended for long. A puzzle can be also too time-consuming to do every day. Getting sucked into a puzzle would drastically reduce my productivity so here are ways I prevent this from happening:
- My favourite part of the puzzle is connecting the edge pieces. (Yeah, I can't imagine working on the interior while the edges are set up).
- As soon as I have connected the edge pieces, I tell myself I will connect another five puzzle pieces before stopping. This is all I do. It's that simple...
The first stages of solving a puzzle require a lot of sorting. My first step with collage puzzles is to sort pieces into likely sets for I use several trays for sorting. I usually connect pieces inside those sets or within the puzzle itself to come up with my pieces. I count each piece as one if I connect pieces that have already been connected. Here are some of the benefits of sorting pieces at a time into likely sets:
- It makes the puzzle seem much more achievable
- Since the goal is so small, I can do it in a little pocket of time, so the puzzle
doesn't languish - You can enjoy solving the puzzle many times a day
- The puzzle does not keep you up so late that you don't get enough sleep
or work (it's like setting a timer). - Slowly, the puzzle unfolds in front of your eyes
- It's fun to see little accomplishments over and over again when you do the
puzzle
In my opinion, the last point is perhaps most important and can also be applicable to other tasks (non-puzzle related).
My tiny goals give me a sense of accomplishment at each stage as I accomplish them. I can always figure out how to put five pieces together without getting frustrated by a puzzle. However, I probably would find puzzles with vast swatches of monochromatic areas a bit frustrating.
So, next time you get stuck on a puzzle, think about how you might make it more like a jigsaw puzzle and focus on connecting the next five pieces instead.
Note: For more of my photography, visit mmpstudios.com. You can check out my work there. If you want, you can order prints and have them printed on a variety of items as well. Basically, all of the puzzles for this series are on that site. So, do check it out there!
However, you can’t buy them on my website as puzzles, but you can order prints on there and a bunch of other stuff through there.
I do have puzzles available here though.
